From About.com
WhistlePig is overseen by former Makers Mark master distiller David Pickerell. Unlike many rye whiskies, WhistlePig is 100% rye and is bottled at 100 proof, making this a perfect choice for cocktails.

Only 1,000 cases to go...
Many people have reached out to me regarding where to get WhistlePig. Unfortunately we only have 1,000 cases to sell this year. So, bottles are distributed to NYC, Chicago and San Francisco, perhaps some to LA. For those living outside our distribution areas, you can purchase one at DrinkUpNY.com:

Thank you and please sip this 100% rye responsibly...

The farm:
Here at the WhistlePig Farm in Shoreham, Vermont, we've spent the past couple of stiflingly hot weeks unfortunately engaged in the physical labor of bottling and shipping several hundred cases of whiskey, a decidedly arduous task (but more on that later). Luckily, we've also been able to do some work in slightly cooler environs, completing the editing on what will hopefully be an interesting couple of videos straight from Raj and Dave. We've already posted one from our Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, but here's a follow up from Proprietor Raj Bhakta, talking about the past -- and future -- of the WhistlePig Farm. We hope you enjoy it.

We think John knows a lot:
For those not (yet) in the know, John Hansell is the Publisher and Editor of Malt Advocate, easily the best whiskey magazine out there. Thanks John for giving us a try, and we're looking forward to reading your thoughts. The link to the article is here.
And to answer some of the comments on his post, remember that while WhistlePig is available on the ground in only a few cities, it is available to everyone else online at DrinkUpNY.com. To buy yours, just click here or check out the links in the sidebar.

Dave Pickerell on rye whiskey:
Here's a video of WhistlePig Whiskey Master Distiller Dave Pickerell talking with Proprietor Raj Bhakta about why he enjoys rye whiskey -- and WhistlePig in particular. After over 14 years as the Master Distiller at Maker's Mark, Dave knows what he's talking about.

On business, busyness, and beginnings:
It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks here at the WhistlePig Farm Distillery -- between cataloging inventory, bottling, attending trade shows, and trying to get this whole crazy project off the ground, we've been pulling some long (but exciting) hours. Thankfully, a few hiccups aside, things are going well, and we were excited to see our first shipment of WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey leave the bottling facility on Tuesday.
In a somewhat less exciting -- yet still important -- announcement, we're happy to open this journal. Over the coming days, weeks, months, and (we hope) years, this site will help chronicle the growth of our business, general goings-on, and the wandering adventures of our genteel mascot.
We'll be back soon with more detailed updates, but in the meantime, it's nice to have this officially underway. Here's to your continued reading -- and fine drinking.
